The Quanser AERO system is a reconfigurable benchtop flight dynamic experiment presenting a unique challenge. The AERO 1 DOF pitch-only system is second order, and the rotors have their dynamics. In this webinar, we will show how to use the MathWorks System Identification Toolbox to identify the model of the system. A PID-based cascade control is then designed to regulate the rotor speed and pitch position. The MathWorks Symbolic Math Toolbox is used in the third-order PID control design.
